Hello, angels!
I’m penning this announcement in lieu of a story this week, as some small shifts are afoot at The Angel.
For us, the most important thing is to be able to produce the best-quality content possible, particularly when it comes to reported profiles and features, which take more time. As it turns out, it’s a lot of work to publish twice a week. Thus, going forward, The Angel’s publishing schedule will loosen up a bit. You can still expect a regular slew of profiles mixed in with features, travel content, lists, the occasional interview or essay, plus new editions of The Host, which will start up soon. Plugs will continue to drop every Saturday morning.
The difference is that outside of Plugs, The Angel will publish slightly less. There will be a story in your inbox three times a month instead of four, and those stories will be published on various days of the week, instead of strictly Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Nothing is changing in terms of what’s free versus what’s paywalled. Plugs, travel content, lists, and The Host are all paid content. Profiles and reported features are free for everyone to read and share. Some months, all stories will be free, and other months, most stories will be paywalled. For a little preview: we have a bunch of profiles in the works right now, and come December and January, there will be a gift guide, new year trend predictions, and the winter edition of My Los Angeles Right Now ($$$).
I have one final update, and this one’s more consequential: The Angel stickers are now up for grabs at Now Serving, the beloved Chinatown cookbook shop where I buy all my cookbooks—and where you should, too! Pro-tip: if they don’t have what you’re looking for, you can always have the staff place an order for you. Ken and Michelle have kindly offered to stock The Angel stickers (in three types) behind the desk, so ask and you shall receive. They’re free. :)
Thank you, as always, for reading, supporting, and sharing The Angel. We’ll be in your inbox on Saturday with Plugs, and then again with something new, sometime next week.
We need those stickers in NYC 😬
