At the end of March, I published the first edition of My Los Angeles Right Now with a healthy amount of success. The only post it trails in views is Tuna in Los Angeles Never Tasted This Good, which remains The Angel’s top-performing story. (By the way, it’s bluefin tuna season right now!) All that is to say, I initially said I’d update it twice a year, but I’ve decided that a triannual publishing schedule makes more sense, as there’s a good amount of turnover in my dining habits every four months. For example, I can’t seem to stop eaitng sushi lately.
As a refresher: My L.A. Right Now is a list of the restaurants I’m most excited about and/or frequenting the most regularly at the moment and why. It won’t be skewed towards recent openings, although it might include a few. Every four months, some places will have dropped from my rotation, and therefore this list. That doesn’t mean they aren’t still great! It just means I haven’t been checking in as often and that I’ve been frequenting other spots (which will, in turn, be added to the list) instead. For another example, while I do not doubt that Musso & Frank still makes the best martinis, too much time has passed since I last visited, so they’re off for now.
This list is where I’ll point people who ask for my L.A. recs. Hopefully, it can serve as a guide for both Angelenos and visitors who want to know which restaurants are worth visiting for the first time and which restaurants are still worth returning to (according to me).
The new additions are up top, followed by those carried over. If you visit any of these places and have a wonderful experience (or a bad one!), I’d love to hear from you.
