At the beginning of May, we published The Angel’s New York City, our first in an ever-expanding repertoire of travel guides to cities we know and love. Now comes number two, LONDON, home to one of the most exciting (and underrated) food scenes in the world. London is an incredibly diverse city, not to mention an old city. Its mix of classic British establishments, pub culture, and restaurants of various levels of fancy specializing in all types of Indian, West African, Turkish, Pakistani, and other immigrant cuisines is, in a word, brilliant.
I won’t pretend to know London’s food scene in a deeply researched fashion (we have
for that), but I have spent considerable time in the UK’s capital, including a two-month stint, one summer in college, and four visits over the last five years—the most recent of which was last month. My approach here is similar to our New York guide in that I’m mostly highlighting the places I continue to return to while also sprinkling in a few spots I’ve visited only once (but recently) and loved.Without further ado, here is The Angel’s London, with several honorable mentions at the end.
