The 15 Best Salads in Los Angeles
A diverse range of new classics, ranked. Plus, come to my salad event!
Salad Forever is a three-part series in pursuit of L.A.’s best salads. Today’s letter is part three: a ranked list of the top salads in Los Angeles right now. Parts one and two of an essay that takes you through the salad history and landscape of Los Angeles, exploring dominant categories through critical observations, can be found here and here.
Good news this morning, especially for those who weren’t interested in an essay (nevertheless a two-parter!) and only care about the Best Salad List. After three months of research and 50+ bowls of dressed lettuce and mix-ins, these are, in my definitive opinion, the best salads you can find in Los Angeles today. The list is ranked from #15 to #1 and includes some salads previously mentioned, plus a handful of uncategorizable, yet-to-be-printed standouts. If I missed your favorite, drop it in the comments.
BUT FIRST! Before we get to the list, I have a special announcement: Next Saturday, April 12th, The Angel and BALO are co-hosting Salad (Bar) Forever alongside Biite at Little City Farm. We’re creating a bountiful make-your-own salad bar of beautiful spring ingredients and serving a mezcal-spiked punch. If you haven’t been to Little City Farm, it’s a magical oasis in Mid-City with fruit trees, vegetables, and herbs galore.
Details: Saturday, 4/12, 3:30-6:30 p.m. Food by Balo Orozco. Drinks by BALO and Yola Mezcal. Vibes by The Angel and Little City Farm. Bring your kids, bring your friends, bring a date! Tickets HERE.
This is The Angel’s first big event, and I’m excited to co-host alongside Balo, Biite, and Little City Farm. It’s a really great crew, so come make your own perfect salad, have a drink, pick some produce, and celebrate Salad Forever with me. :)
Alright, here goes.
