Plugs — Trevor Cheney
L.A. food, drink, and leisure recs from a gallerist and design advisor + LINKS
Plugs is The Angel’s recs column. Every week, you’ll get six picks—a restaurant, a bar, a shop, an ingredient, a person, and a treat—from someone in Los Angeles who knows what they’re talking about, plus a selection of Angel-curated links. (Plugs are for paid subscribers of The Angel only. However, if you’re in the restaurant industry and want a free subscription, hit me up. :))
#41 is Trevor Cheney, a gallerist and design advisor who presides over Seventh House Gallery and Trevor Cheney Gallery, two distinct furniture galleries in the Melrose Arts District. The former, situated in Frank Gehry’s Danzinger Studio & Residence, is dedicated to early 20th century deco, postmodern, and contemporary design while his more intimate, eponymous venture focuses on vintage and antique pieces curated through a personal lens. Originally from Santa Cruz, Trevor has lived in Los Angeles for over a decade, where his career has spanned industrial design for companies like Muji and Herman Miller, creative direction for Galerie Half, and independent design work for high-profile clients. Pay a visit to either of his spaces, and his discerning taste speaks for itself. Here are his L.A. plugs!
Restaurant — Kenbey Sushi
This is my go-to sushi spot in L.A. I feel taken care of here. I love to sit at the sushi bar with a couple of friends. The food is good and the staff is very thoughtful.
