Plugs is The Angel’s recs column. Every week, you’ll get six picks—a restaurant, a bar, a shop, an ingredient, a person, and a treat—from someone in Los Angeles who knows what they’re talking about, plus a selection of Angel-curated links. (Plugs are for paid subscribers of The Angel only; upgrade your subscription to receive all six!)
#70 is June Kim, the head of video at Bon Appétit and Epicurious. At Condé Nast, she oversees production on series ranging from Street Eats to On The Line, World of Wine, and Hot Takes. And she recently wrote about the cheezy broccoli orzotto that she and her toddler can both have for dinner. Before BA, she worked in content development and brand strategy at Tastemade. Given her job, you’d think June was based in New York, but nope—L.A. In fact, she’s been living in Los Angeles for 13 years, which surely makes her an Angeleno (assuming it takes 10). June and I used to run into each other at restaurant press events around town, but after a recent meal at the Dunsmoor bar (psst: watch this video), I’m happy to report that we have become fast friends. Here she is with her L.A. Plugs.

The best way I can explain the food is that it just felt extremely flavorful. Sour, tangy, fatty, salty — all flavors were amped up just a hair, just enough to make you perk up a little in your seat.
