Plugs is The Angel’s recs column. Every week, you’ll get six picks—a restaurant, a bar, a shop, an ingredient, a person, and a treat—from someone in Los Angeles who knows what they’re talking about, plus a selection of Angel-curated links. (Plugs are for paid subscribers of The Angel only; upgrade your subscription to receive all six!)
#63 is Danielle Adams, a photographer that specializes in food and beverage. If you’re the kind of person who follows restaurants on Instagram (which I imagine, most of you are), you have, without a doubt, seen Danielle’s work. She’s shot for Étra and Cafe Telegrama, Genghis Cohen, Friends & Family, Gusto Bread, and L.A. Grocery & Café, in addition to brands like Zab’s Hot Sauce, Las Jaras Wines, and Kif Kefir Water—to name just a handful. And she’s also on Substack! Subscribe to for her eating and drinking guides to cities such as Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, Austin, and beyond. Here are Danielle’s L.A. Plugs!

Sqirl holds a soft spot in my heart, and my first L.A. apartment was strategically within walking distance of it. The sorrel bowl (hey stella! + seared salmon) is my go-to order, but you really can't go wrong with anything Jessica and her team touches. Their pastry program is top-notch, and I love browsing Sqirl Away next door. I’m so ready to follow cappuccinos (with their housemade almond milk!) with glasses of wine when they introduce dinner service.
