Before we get into it, a quick PSA for cinnamon roll lovers: Kate’s Bread in Ojai, maker of my very favorite cinnamon roll, is baking this weekend. Pickups are this Saturday (on my birthday, no less!) at noon. Order yours here.
It’s time for the latest My Los Angeles Right Now. Technically, we’re still in winter, but we sprung forward last weekend, so we’re going with spring. I need spring energy in my life. Excitingly, I’ve got many new additions—13 to be exact. I’ve also kept a lot in the rotation, so the list is quite long this time around. I think that’s a good thing. :)
As a refresher: My L.A. RN is a list of the restaurants I’m most excited about and/or frequenting the most at the moment—and why. It won’t be skewed towards recent openings, although it might include a few. Every four months, some places will have dropped from my rotation, and therefore this list. That doesn’t mean they aren’t still great! It just means I haven’t been checking in as often and that I’ve been hitting other spots (which will, in turn, be added to the list) instead. For example, while I do not doubt that Liu’s Cafe still makes a banging chicken rice, too much time has passed since I last visited, so they’re off for now.
This list is where I’ll point people who ask for my L.A. recs. Hopefully, it can guide Angelenos and visitors alike who want to know which restaurants are worth visiting for the first time and which are still worth returning to. According to me, that is.
It’s organized from casual to fancy. If you visit any of these places and have a wonderful experience (or a bad one!), I’d love to hear from you.
